When Times Are Tough - Don’t Be An Ostrich!

You know the old mantra: When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

A while back amid the crashing markets, I attended a dinner given by a (brave) investment firm. Among the financial details a graph revealed a counter intuitive reality we almost all can relate to: people overwhelmingly buy a stock when it’s soaring and they dump it when it plummets; bad decisions both.

Similarly, marketing plans often get stuck up on a shelf to collect dust when the economy hits the skids. Just the time when companies need to sharpen every tool in their belts and reach out to their audience. I call it the ostrich syndrome.

Are you ready for the fight? Is your website?

Now is the crucial time to really look at your website to make sure it’s doing everything possible to facilitate business. It’s probably one of the most flexible marketing tools available to you and the most cost effective.

Here are things you should be evaluating:

  • Is your website search engine friendly? SEO or Search Engine Optimization is essential, critical, crucial - it has literally spawned a whole new era in web development. If you’re not sure, maybe we should talk.
  • Is your website easy to use? Intuitive? Can visitors find their way to content within your site easily?
  • Are you communicating the latest and greatest things about your company/products? Are your latest sales and promotions prominent?
  • Is your website professional? This doesn’t have to mean buttoned-down and corporate but it should give your audience the feeling that you’re a serious player in your market
  • Is your website keeping pace with your brand?
  • Your website is likely the first point of contact with a prospective new client – if that strikes fear in your heart, it may be a good time to talk

If you are duking it out with your competitors in a shrinking market, making sure your website is pulling its weight is mission critical. We can help make sure you’re ticking off all the important boxes and driving new leads and sales.
